Re: New York - 2020 Tesla Model Y - No Damage - Inherent Diminished Value claim Denied

Hi again Simon, It's been a while! But I finally have an outcome with Carfax and Autocheck. Both accidents still appear on the report however, autocheck shows no damage was reported in the collision. Carfax added that damage was under $1,000. Wondering if it's still worth pursuing the insurance cla...

Re: ALFA Adjuster Issues

I'm the man you spoke to :) Yes, you only want what's yours and then they mistreat you - it's wrong. And that's why there are laws in place to award people additional damages if the insurance company is not treating them right. Refer to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insurance_bad_faith 1. The adjus...

In many cases the insurance company will demand you obtain an appraisal before they even consider paying you a penny. In other cases they won't insist on it. Regardless, to properly prove your diminished value claim you should obtain a Diminished Value Appraisal from an independent auto appraiser. W...

Can I use a diminished value calculator to back up my claim?

You could but it's a bad idea. The used vehicle market is too dynamic, complex and localized for any cookie cutter arbitrary formula to be accurate in appraising diminished value. Using any arbitrary formula or a calculator is not a valid appraisal methodology. Calculator-derived diminished value am...

Re: New York - 2020 Tesla Model Y - No Damage - Inherent Diminished Value claim Denied

Hi Simon, Just letting you know that I followed up with both, unfortunately the only platform to follow up is the same web customer enquiry form. If I don't hear back by mid January I will get an appraisal and reach out to you for advice. Sounds good. Side note - does Tiger DV handle appraising and...

The insurance company offered me a diminished value amount based on the 17C formula. It seems too low. What should I do?

The 17c formula was put together by insurance company lawyers in Georgia and is designed to grossly under-appraise diminished value. You don’t have to agree to its use. Obtaining an independent diminished value appraisal from a reputable auto appraiser is very likely to result in a substantially hig...

Re: New York - 2020 Tesla Model Y - No Damage - Inherent Diminished Value claim Denied

I still haven't heard back from either Autocheck or Carfax. I'm assuming Autocheck won't get it off the report as it states in the report that there may be no damage: "A state or municipality has reported an accident or collision for this vehicle that may or may not have sustained damage. Not all d...

I got into an accident in my rental and now the evil car rental company wants me to pay diminished value! Help!

First of all, they are not evil. Before you got the keys you signed a contract where you agreed to be liable for all losses resulting from an accident regardless of whether you are at fault or not. Those losses include diminished value. So the first part of this is unpleasant but easy. Yes, you are ...
